On a personal note, after 8 years of looking for the right piece of land then another 3 years of overcoming obstacle after obstacle trying to get started, we will break ground in early September and start to build our simple dream home. It will be on our beautiful, wooded 66+ acres with several springs, a pond and lots of wildlife. The picture shows the area that we cleared for the house and construction vehicles. Our main view will be the hills in the distance.

Our new home will be well-insulated, have passive solar features, have beautiful views to the south and be tucked down into our very own small valley. Eventually Soap Sprite will have a dedicated workshop in our new home! Wooo-hooo!!!

We are so thrilled and thought we'd share the good news with our wonderful customers and friends. Some day we hope to have holiday open houses and offer soapmaking classes. For now, we are just thrilled to start building our dream that to this point has just been in the planning stages.

* The 2010 Summer Season is from May 18 until November 2 at the Pennsylvania Military Museum's parking lot along Route 45 in Boalsburg, PA.
* The 2010-2011 Winter Season will be from November 9, 2010, until mid May 2011 at the Boalsburg Fire Hall located at 113 East Pine Street in Boalsburg, PA.

* 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Fridays
* The 2010 Season is from May 28 until November 19 (excluding Arts Festival week in July).
* Located on Locust Street in downtown State College, PA.

So far, Soap Sprite's 2010 Craft Show schedule includes:

Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair - August 13 (10 a.m. - 8 p.m.) & August 14 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.), in Bellefonte, PA.

Mother Earth News Fair - September 25 (10 a.m. - 7 p.m.) & September 26 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.) at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Seven Springs, PA.

Bedford Fall Foliage Festival - October 2 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) & October 3 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) in Bedford, PA.

Hartslog Day - October 9 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) in Alexandria, PA.

If you would like to see Soap Sprite's products at any particular craft show in Pennsylvania, please, contact Soap Sprite and let us know the name & date of the show. We will see what we can do to attend.

We have changed our soap bar size from 5 ounce to 4 ounce and lowered our price per bar. Why? We considered the following:

1. Many people are experiencing financial difficulties due to the change in the economy. We wanted to find a way to lower our price per bar to make them more affordable without compromising our quality or our wonderful recipe.
   
2. Some of our customers tell us that while they love our soaps, the thick 5 ounce bars are a bit too big for their hands.
   
3. Our 5 oz soaps were larger than most other handmade soaps so we had to charge more for them compared to smaller bars. This made our soaps look more expensive when they really weren't considering how large they were.

After considering the above, we decided to make smaller, more "normal-sized" bars and lower our price per bar. We could have changed our recipe to less expensive ingredients in order to lower our price but that would have changed the soap characteristics and quality that you (and we) know and love. So, we decided to make our bars smaller and lower the price accordingly.

Our soap bars are now similar in weight to most other handmade soaps . . . but still made with our same wonderful recipe. . . and still in all of our standard soap varieties.

We also made a few more changes for 2010:

• We added Goat Milk Soaps to our offerings. Currently we have "Oat, Milk & Honey" and "Light Lavender Oat." We intend to add more Goat Milk Soap varieties to our line and are open to suggestions for scent options.
  
  
• After much testing, we have perfected our Shaving Soap recipe. Once we decide on scent and color options (again, open to suggestions), we will add them to our line.
  
  
• Instead of offering Buck Naked, Basic Oatmeal and Pine Tar Soaps as Limited Edition Soaps, we have added them to our normal line in a new Unscented Soap category.
  
  
• We updated our website to include larger pictures of our products and to make it easier to navigate.

As of 2010, we will no longer be sending emails to our Preferred Customer List. Instead, we have created a Soap Sprite Fan Page on Facebook. We will use it to keep everyone updated on special offers and what's happening at Soap Sprite.
